Paraguayan visual artist, born on September 28, 1962 In Asunción, Paraguay , he is known for his work in various disciplines, including painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His work is characterized by a profound exploration of Paraguayan cultural identity, symbolism, and the innovative use of materials.
Felix Toranzos began his artistic training in Paraguay and later expanded his knowledge and technique abroad, allowing him to incorporate international influences into his style. He has been one of the most important artists on the contemporary Paraguayan art scene, distinguished by his ability to blend the traditional with the modern, as well as by incorporating elements of Guarani culture and his country's history into his work.
Toranzos's work encompasses various themes, but focuses primarily on aspects of identity, the human body, collective memory, and cultural heritage. He is recognized for his use of highly symbolic visual elements interwoven with unconventional forms and materials, which allow him to convey ideas about transformation, the passage of time, and social and cultural tensions.
In his early stages, Toranzos experimented primarily with oil painting, but over the years he broadened his approach, developing works in sculpture, installations, and collage. His work has been influenced by surrealism and abstract art, but also by Paraguayan folk aesthetics and elements of nature and the indigenous Guarani worldview.

Furthermore, Felix Toranzos has been a champion of art as a means of social and cultural reflection and has maintained a close relationship with the local art scene, also working as a curator and promoter of other Paraguayan artists.
Today, Toranzos remains an influential figure in Paraguayan culture, both in the artistic and academic spheres, having taught at educational institutions throughout the country. Felix Toranzos has worked closely with the Matices Art Gallery on several occasions throughout his career, reflecting both his commitment to the Paraguayan art scene and his search for spaces that promote high-quality contemporary art. The relationship between Toranzos and the gallery has been key to the consolidation of his work both nationally and internationally.
