Collection: Julia Isidrez
A ceramist from the city of Itá who molds and shapes clay with her hands, turning it into beautiful works of art that have already toured several galleries in the country and in different parts of the world. Julia Isídrez has been creating clay pieces with her hands for more than 30 years, pieces that have transcended borders and have won national and international awards. She started when she was 17 years old with the help of her mother, the ceramist Juana Marta Rodas.
As a child, she always followed her mother to the farm, where she saw many animals and insects.
At the Casa Museo Julia exhibits her works and those of her mother. She passed away in 2013, but before that she filled her hands with knowledge and art that were passed down from generation to generation. Her technique comes from the Guaraní people, the same one used by her mother and great-grandmother. "Their technique is to use clay rolls to form the works. Everything is done completely by hand, we prepare the clay with our feet," said Isídrez, whose hands never tire of giving life to clay.
Preserving ancestral techniques, capturing his imagination and melting his hands in black clay, he creates meticulous works of art with dedication.
